When Ross contacted Marry Me in Tuscany for their wedding in Barga I just knew it was going to be a really special occasion. Ross and Martha got together in the 90s and have 4 wonderful children. They have been coming to Barga which proud to hold the title as “the most Scottish town in Italy”, since the children were very small so they know the town so well it feels like their second home. They decided that it would be the perfect place for them to marry and to make it a double celebration he wanted to do it on Martha’s birthday, just perfect
Once we arrived in Barga we just knew that it was going to be a perfect day: lovely weather, a fresh morning breeze and a hot cappuccino waiting for us on the bar table in front of the town hall!
Time to watch the world go by with a cappucino!
The mayor was waiting for us at 11 and Ross and Martha were joined in matrimony, it was obvious that even after 20 years together they were still very much in love, their good friends Steven and Eliza were there as witnesses together with their 3 children completing the wedding party.
Exchanging rings..
After the ceremony and throwing of confetti we headed back to the bar for a celebratory glass of prosecco, the bar owner congratulated them with a tray of home made canapes, the people in Barga love a good wedding and are so welcoming and friendly they do everything possible to make sure you take home wonderful memories of your visit.
We then strolled up to the top of the town where the white marbles cathedral sits majestically with the Apennines behind and the valley in front on a perfect day as today the views are spectacular. We slipped into the cathedral for some welcome shade and the girls slipped off their shoes, relaxed and soaked up the atmosphere while Federico Pannacci their photographer snapped away, thank you Federico for these wonderful photos of Ross and Martha’s big day.
