As a destination wedding planner in Tuscany I'm often found trawling the internet and bridal magazines looking for ideas and new trends to offer brides suggestions as to how they can put a unique stamp on their wedding.
So you've finally got that ring on your finger and your getting married...some girls have been planning their weddings for years and know exactly what they want, prince charming wearing top hat and tails a fairy tale carriage and six bridesmaids in girlie pink...cute little page boys and the wedding dress that is quintessentially Cinderella's.. which is fine if you have the budget to pull it off or there are girls that will tell that they've not given it a moment thought!
So now you're engaged you'll start surfing the Internet and buying those glossy wedding magazines that you will then spend every waking hour looking at and suddenly discover that the princess dream wedding is maybe not want you after all now your older and maybe you need to re-think the whole thing.
Now there are so many different themes for your wedding the world really is your oyster for how you want to reflect your personality and put your stamp on your very special day...there's vintage, vintage glamour, country chic, opulent elegance, simple but elegant, fairground chic to name but a few.
Lets face it the wedding mags, blogs and internet sites are just brimming with ideas and once you get started you suddenly have more ideas than you know what to do with, or you get completely confused, I always tell me brides to create mood boards of images and ideas that they find and like, this way you won't end up wondering where that lovely table centre piece was that you loved and wanted so much, at least you'll end up with the wedding theme and elements that you love the most. 🙂
I just love mood or inspiration boards they're fabulous for bringing lots of ideas together and having been brought up with Blue Peter just loved the old style cutting and pasting all those gorgeous wedding cakes, shoes, dresses, flowers etc...that I'd found onto a huge pieces of paper but now with the age of technology you don't need to do that anymore you can even get an App for your iPad... I've been using the myPantone wedding & events and Moodboard where you can move images around until you're happy with the final look and you can then share via Facebook, Twitter or as a photo image that you can email. Fantastic!
I bet you can't guess how I spend my winter evenings and what's more you can even bookmark websites to your mood boards for future reference so you need never loose another great idea from the hundreds of websites you visit..if you're anything like me you start a search which leads onto something else and before you know it you've forgotten to bookmark them and then you can't remember which site you saw it on.. it's just simply fabulous...love love love it..!
Don't despair if you haven't got an iPad yet there are websites where you can make mood boards and store and share them on line. I love Style Me Pretty and Project Wedding they have loads of ideas for flowers and dresses, ceremony decorations etc... So literally thousands of images to chose from and you can also upload your own images too.
Another great site If you need ideas for colour schemes that work well together or inspiration for your wedding colour scheme then check out The Perfect Palette website where there is literally every colour under the rainbow and different colour combos that you'll spend hours just clicking on the colour palette for ideas.
If you're having a destination wedding then mood boards are a great way of bringing your ideas together so that your wedding planner knows exactly what you like and don't like, especially when you've entrusted "THE' most important day of your life to someone that you may not meet until just before your wedding day it's important that they have a clear visual idea and it will also inspire them to throw more ideas into the mix so that your mood, theme & colour scheme for your wedding is just perfect.
Check out these mood boards that I've put together from past weddings and some ideas that I've pulled from the internet.. And if you feel inspired why not have a go I promise that once you start you won't be able to stop...have fun!
Love it - what an excellent idea.
