We had problems with the wedding venue who cancelled our contract a few months before and Hewelin was able to find another one that I loved. I was skeptical because my wedding date was 2 months away but she did it! She went above and beyond her job, even shopping around for vendors. She even organized a last minute truffle hunting excursion for me and my guests the day before the wedding . ‘From my first email enquiry to Jackie, I was filled with confidence that she was more than knowledgeable in every respect when it came to getting married in Italy. Jackie was able to reply to queries, regardless of how small they were, quickly and professionally. As my wife is Australian, we had additional queries, which Jackie was obviously up-to-speed with as all her information proved correct. It was so comforting knowing Jackie spoke fluent Italian and had all the necessary connections already in place. We were able to change appointment times at the local town hall without complication, as Jackie dealt with the matter immediately. Meeting Jackie was equally pleasant. She’s a lovely warm lady, who put my wife and I at ease from the moment we met. Very grounded, but with a passion for making our day as special as she could – a real plus. Tuscany is a stunning location and I couldn’t recommend Jackie highly enough. We both found her so easy and also fun to work with. She really listened to the kind of day we wanted and everything she did for us was just perfect. Doing extra things like finding us locally made crafts for our wedding favours just shows her amazing attention to detail. Jackie took all of the stress out of wedding planning, from coordinating all the caterers, photographers, flowers etc to guiding us effortlessly through the legal paperwork. She was quick to respond to emails and all her advice and suggestions were brilliant for an indecisive couple like us!

All of our family and friends had an amazing time and Jackie’s hard work made our wedding so memorable and such an experience for everyone.

Hi Jackie,

I just wanted to write to thank you properly for helping to make our wedding day so wonderful and just as we had wanted.

I must say for me anyway the ceremony seemed like a whirlwind, difficult to take everything in at the time, but it was all perfect. You could probably tell; I was a little nervous. Everything you had organized for us – music, hair and makeup, car etc – was superb so thank you very much and please pass on our thanks to everyone involved. Francesca, the hairdresser, even knew better than myself what would work for my hair – she was great!

I know our families and guests really enjoyed the whole day and everything ran really smoothly. Ooh – I don’t know if you heard that our car broke down on the way back, it was too hot for it, but it all added to the fun and our memories. We certainly had the weather for it that weekend!

We are so pleased that you introduced us to Castellina, we loved it! I think in the end it worked out much better than having the ceremony Florence, it felt much more personal. I would not hesitate to recommend it to other couples thinking of marrying in Tuscany.

“Once we had chosen to have our wedding in Tuscany we selected our accommodation.  We think the gods were smiling on us as the owner of the accommodation suggested we use Jackie as a wedding planner.  We have  to admit that we hadn’t initially contemplated using a wedding planner but with the benefit of hindsight it was one of the best decisions we ever made.
Jackie was absolutely brilliant.  She shared our trials and tribulations during the planning phase and provided a fantastic sounding board whenever we needed her thoughts – be it in the evening or at weekends she was always on hand by email or on the end of the telephone.  She really does have the patience of a saint!

Jackie is amazingly well connected and we can’t imagine how you could achieve all those special touches for a wedding in Tuscany without having someone like her on board.  Her masterstroke was in securing us a “moon on the stick” venue for our ceremony – we really thought that we’d given her an impossible brief but she surpassed our wildest expectations.  There were only 14 people at our wedding and she managed to get us a small, private chapel set in a wine estate in the Montalcino countryside (this  is exclusive to Jackie so worth hiring her for this alone!) – it was absolutely stunning, intimate and perfect for our special day.  To describe it as breathtakingly beautiful stills feels like we are underselling the venue it really was that amazing.

Jackie has surrounded herself with a team of first rate professionals who all work closely to deliver an absolutely great service – to name a few she recommended our photographer (amazing photos and an unobtrusive style), priest (you’ll feel like he’s one of the family!), hair and makeup team (simply wonderful), florist (real wow factor) and transport provider who were all absolutely fantastic and added to the occasion.  Jackie takes control of things on your behalf to ensure that you don’t feel that you are going it alone and she doesn’t just deal with the routine requirements for a wedding, she consistently pulled rabbits out of hats when it came to other requests – be it last minute menu changes, sourcing two white doves at short notice, rose petals or anything else you can dream up.  A wonderful addition to our ceremony and post ceremony drinks & food was Aldo, Jackie’s trusted pianist, who is charming, wears a smile from ear to ear and played our chosen music throughout – this really did heighten the emotions and created a perfect ambiance.

We were mindful that there could be many pitfalls with having a wedding abroad but having someone like Jackie as your wedding planner helps mitigate these risks and we really couldn’t fault anything. Jackie’s efforts surpassed all expectations and she delivered the most amazing day we could only have dreamt of. The one word we use to sum it up is “perfect” and it is gratifying to hear our guests use so many superlatives when describing our wedding such as “amazing”, “magical” and “wonderful”.
For anyone deliberating using Jackie our advice would be to sign up without hesitation, she is worth her weight in gold!”

“Hi Jackie

I hope you are well and enjoying the Tuscan sun. It’s been pretty miserable here – I think we missed the Scottish summer when we were away! I just wanted to say a huge thank you for organizing a perfect wedding for Mike and me. There wasn’t one thing I would have changed. It was such a happy day and I didn’t want it to end!

The flowers and buttonholes were beautiful and my bouquet was so delicate and spring like.

The ceremony on the Major’s terrace was perfect – what an amazing location with blue skies and stunning views across the Tuscan countryside. The staff at Barga Commune were so friendly and helpful and we were blown away by the gifts given to us. We are very proud of our Italian flag and engraved plate and plan to get the beautifully decorated wedding certificate framed for posterity!

It was great to have the photographs of the wedding on the Barga News website and I believe we even made it onto the local TV news. I must say I felt like quite the celebrity when we stepped out of the Commune into our ‘rice heart’ and everyone was taking photographs.

Having the appertivo at the Café Caprezzo, a step or two away from the Commune was a perfect warm up to the main event at Il Pozzo. What a delicious meal at Il Pozzo which seemed never to end!  The table setting was lovely (beautiful flowers once again) and the service was first class. The traditional Italian wedding cake was the perfect finale.
Also, not forgetting the transport you arranged which ran smoothly and got everyone home safely at the end of a wonderful day.

“We were extremely nervous about planning our wedding overseas because we were unable to visit beforehand or make sure everything was planned properly firsthand. At first, we were dealing with an Italian property owner directly in Umbria, and that was turning into a total mess. The owner was rude to us and we ended up cancelling our plans with them for fears it would not turn out the way we wanted and there would be relationship strains between the owner and us on our wedding day. After searching for a few weeks, we found a second property that had everything we were looking for. We asked them to recommend a planner so that we would not have the same problem again, and they recommended Jackie. After we selected Jackie as our planner, our fears quickly disappeared.

Jackie kept our budget and vision in mind, keeping us on track with selections that needed to be made without being pushy or demanding. If we were unsure of anything , or could not make a decision, Jackie would lead us in the right direction as to what decision would work best with our vision. She even helped smooth over issues with our rooms which she was not managing or being paid for. By the end of the process, we were letting Jackie pick flowers and decorations based on what she thought was best because we were so confident in her abilities, even though we had never met her and saw nothing more than some photographs of wedding she had planned. Jackie went above and beyond what was required. She also set-up tours and dinners with the most amazing guides and restaurants we had ever had. Jackie even met us on the property with her own personal steamer for our wrinkled clothes! I could go on and on about everything Jackie did for us…

We were still a little nervous the day of our wedding, but based on our guest reactions (obviously we are partial), it was the best wedding anyone had ever been to, and the best food at any wedding as well.

Don’t try to plan a wedding in Italy on your own. Although Italians are lovely people and they treat you wonderfully in person, the language and culture barrier is difficult to overcome over email. Use a planner and make sure they know and understand your wedding customs because they are very different in other countries. You may chose to use some local customs as we did, but there are some that you are not willing to change. Jackie is from England, but lives in Italy and speaks perfect Italian, so she is a perfect intermediary for blending the US/English cultures with the Italian. I would not recommend anyone else to friends and family. If you are going to plan a wedding in Italy, you must use Jackie and Marry Me in Tuscany!   PS-We will send pics shortly. Jackie is not only a great wedding planner but she also saved the day for us!  We had initially experienced the misfortune of engaging a truly atrocious wedding planner in Italy. We were 6 weeks away from our big day and were in communications with a Company that did not give us any reassurance or confidence, especially when our emails would go unanswered for a week.  We did not even have a venue booked for the reception. Needless to say this was a little stressful at an already stressful time.

Jackie instilled that confidence in us by getting everything organised and by answering all of our emails promptly. “From her very first e-mail, I was sure that Jackie was the right choice to make our dream wedding in Italy come true.  Many responses to our e-mail inquiry were simply form letters, but it was clear Jackie had really read about our story, our plans, and our questions.  She made my (now) husband and I feel instantly comfortable.

Our biggest concern was figuring out how to have a legal wedding in Italy.  We were easily counseled into applying and filing for all the necessary paperwork, making the appropriate appointments, and meeting with the right people at the Italian Embassy while still here in the US.  Once we were in Italy, we had her there with us in person to navigate the crazy offices, language barriers, and confusing city layouts.  At the end of our ten days in Italy we left as husband and wife!

My husband and I were very relaxed about all other aspects of our wedding.  We didn’t really fuss over the details, but Jackie went out of her way to make our experience the most special day.  She decorated the table for the wedding dinner, set up a beautiful ceremony location, and even cut garden roses to hang from the backs of all the chairs.  All of her efforts to pull the little details together were well placed – the day felt like perfection.

We felt so close to Jackie that we invited her to stay at the villa with us for a few nights, I can honestly say that her dynamic personality added to the festivities of our pre-wedding week.  Even after the honeymoon and flight home we still heard from her while she followed up on our paperwork and mailed us our wedding certificates.  I know we will keep in touch from time-to-time… and although I’d love to say we would be hiring her again – I’m sure we won’t.  She did such a great job making things work the first time around!

After making our decision to get married in Tuscany, we started our search for a wedding planner. We made many enquiries, and came across Jackie, who was the only planner who actually gave us a phone call to introduce herself. “We got married in Radda In Chianti in August 2008 and had a magical wedding reception at Villa Vistarenni, on top of beautiful hills with the sun coming down. It was really like a fairytale and would never have been possible had we not met Jackie. Without the language or the knowledge of Italy we would never have been able to have had our wedding there. We had nearly given up on the idea until we met Jackie on a rainy January day in Sienna. We were slightly apprehensive about contacting a wedding planner as it wouldn’t normally be our thing. We looked at a few websites, they were all very high priced, too ‘professional’ looking and impersonal. The responses we received were also impersonal automated responses and it was difficult to get information. On meeting Jackie we were relieved to find her to be very down to earth. She said whatever we wanted she could arrange – with as little or as much help from her. There was no pressure at all, she didn’t try to push anything on us and it was entirely for us to decide what services we did or didn’t want and what type of wedding we wanted to have. We had to do all our corresponding by email as we were living in Africa and Jackie was incredibly patient and responsive, despite us being rather indecisive at times! The day itself went like a dream and the fact that we had nothing to worry about and everything was organized was a huge reason for this. We had no wedding stress at all and only had to concern ourselves with turning up. It was well worth it and the day was an unforgettable experience for all our family and friends, sometimes I still can’t believe it happened!”

“When choosing a wedding planner to help with the organization of our wedding in Tuscany we contacted a number of companies on the web. The first to reply, by telephone rather than email (which we found much more personal), was Jacqueline from ‘Marry me in Tuscany’. From the outset her professional yet easy going nature was apparent and we knew we wanted her to be involved with our wedding.

Jackie spent a full day with us travelling around various locations for the ceremony and reception. Her thorough planning meant a minute wasn’t wasted and we left with feeling happy. She installed complete confidence.

“I recently was married just outside of Siena in the Tuscan Region of Italy. Being from the United States originally and living in the Cayman Islands currently, I knew that if I wanted to have my wedding in Italy, I would need to hire a coordinator. As a wedding coordinator myself, I knew exactly what I expected from someone who was coordinating my wedding. During my search, I contacted many different wedding coordinators in Italy noticing that the majority of the co-ordinator websites asked you to complete a form document to which I would receive the form standard response and maybe, in a few days someone responding to me. When I came across the ³Marry Me in Tuscany² website, I sent an email to Jackie and the next day received a phone call from Jackie asking me about my wedding. Not only was I impressed with the phone call, but immediately felt comfortable with Jackie and had no doubt that working with her on my wedding would be a great experience.
Throughout the entire planning process Jackie was fantastic. I would constantly send her emails with questions, ideas, etc. and she would always get back to me after fully researching the answers, providing alternatives and basically recreating the vision I had for my wedding.
Upon arriving in Italy, I was beyond relaxed about everything because I knew Jackie had handled it all. I was really able to enjoy my time there and not be caught up with last minute details, stress or anything like that. When my fiance¹s bag did not arrive with him, Jackie went above and beyond the call and not only got his bag delivered from Rome, but brought it to our villa one evening when we were all out.
Jackie organized a wine tasting tour for us a couple of days before the wedding. She handled all of the details from the booking of the tours and tastings to the transportation and the day was amazing. Everyone had such a fantastic time, the vineyards we visited were amazing!!
On the day of the wedding, makeup artist and hair stylist who Jackie arranged arrived exactly on time and did a fantastic job. The entire day was completely relaxed. As far as I know, the set up went on without a hitch and everything looked absolutely beautiful. The entire ceremony and reception went better and looked better than I could ever have imagined and all of it is thanks to Jackie.
I have a million fantastic memories of my wedding and my time in Italy and Jackie is attached to almost all of them. A million thanks for a million memories!!!!”

“Alison and I got married last July, in the most beautiful of all settings, Tuscany. We had been to Tuscany a few times before and fell in love with the lifestyle and culture. When Alison agreed to marry me the search was on to find a perfect location. We both wanted a quiet wedding abroad, however we read that Italy and especially Tuscany were particularly difficult places to arrange a wedding.

I made a few inquiries over the internet, stating what we would like, when and more importantly where. A small village in the centre of Tuscany called Montepulciano is a very special place for the two of us and seemed the obvious choice. The response was generally negative, it was possible but to arrange a wedding in Montepulciano would be far too difficult to arrange.

Just one response was positive, and answered all our dreams. Someone had the same vision as us and understood exactly what we wanted. From then on, Jackie took over and arranged everything for us. She told us exactly what we needed to do in this country. Her knowledge of Tuscany and the all the Italian marriage laws made our wedding day go smoothly from start to finish. She had some great ideas for the reception but left the final decisions up to us.

“Not a problem on sharing the experience we had with Jackie, I will give you a brief overview of how we came to use her, in short we have friends that moved to Siena some years back and have been regular visitors to the place since so when we decided to finally get married it seemed to be the obvious choice, we had been at Italian weddings in various parts of Italy and the whole experience was far better that anything we could have obtained at home.

So we started the long process of information gathering etc with the help of our friends over there however this was a slow process as you can appreciate, given the Italian red tape etc and of course the fact that our friends had their own obligations. Jackie was mentioned to us by another friend while we were over there on one trip, and we decided to get in touch seeing as we were there, we met her the following day and to be honest she came across as confident in being able to obtain what we wanted, we were a bit dubious at first as this was to be the first wedding she was to do.

Still it sounded better than the alternative. We gave her our wish list as it were and went home, a week later she had secured most of the list items, to our delight.

The service continued and, even though we had secured the reception ourselves before meeting Jackie, she was more than happy to take all suggestions etc on board.

The wedding went perfectly, there were little things on the day that needed attention, again Jackie would be there to make it happen, the most impressive being the organisation of a wedding cake in a few hours, the bakers forgot to make it, we realised this just before the meal started and by the time we were ready to cut the cake it was there, albeit still warm, again down to Jackie. There are numerous other things that she made happen, white umbrellas (it rained a lot), crusty hotel managers, flowers, wedding gifts, even transport from the airport for the guests (40 odd in total), etc, etc, to name but a few of the things she did.
In short I would strongly recommend her to anyone planning a wedding in the area, we honestly have nothing bad to say about her or her service, there was no way we could have done it without her or at least not to anywhere near the same level of professionalism”.
